The NARS Sensory Control Unit (SCU) systems are portable, reusable, training system platforms that enhance the realism of care under fire, combat medical training without heavy demand on personnel. The easy-to-use, custom designed interface, allows for an increase/decrease in the level of stress on the trainee via the control of environmental factors, such as light, noise, wind (fans), water, and smoke (foggers), and other specialized components.
The Full sizes SCU system is built as a “rack system, is self-contained, easily transportable, and will configure to most training environments, especially stationary units (e.g. cargo container and kill houses).
The Mini SCU system is a small, portable system that operates as a suite of environmental control products, or as individual sensory devices.

Both SCU systems are completely reusable and easily re-set so that training iterations can be run with minimal interruption. Each system contains the hardware, software, remote control device (hand-held NARS remote or PC tablet), and electrical components required to equip multi-sized simulation environments.
An optional cameras can be added with the NARS Video Management System (NARS-VMS) allows you to monitor the exercise via a tablet. The software allows cadre to watch live streaming video of trainees without interrupting their performance and control the environment.
Video Management Software (VMS)
The Video Management Software (VMS) is based on an open standard, and performs as an integrated system with functionality mirroring that of IP network and management architecture. The VMS recording capability is based on a true open architecture that requires no proprietary recording hardware. It also allows for use of non-proprietary PC storage hardware that does not limit the storage capacity and allows for gradual upgrades of recording capacity.
The VMS offers redundant features as options providing a “Live” and complete failover and back up of both the archived video and the main video server. This offers a continuance of command, and no single point of failure.
The VMS supports all forms of IP network connectivity including: LAN, WAN, VPN, Internet, and Wireless (Wireless LAN and Mobile broadband) technologies. The VMS provides for bandwidth limitations to protect the various other uses of the mobile WAN during training situation. Network throughput is managed directly through the VMS interface, and includes bandwidth throttling measures to accommodate network demand and traffic. These limitations are adjustable in real time without interrupting recording or restarting the services.
The Video Management Software (VMS) is able to control PTZ protocols and is not limited to PTZ protocols supported by a video encoder.
The system offers the option of server (VMS) based motion detection and the ability to control motion detection on-board the IP camera or IP encoder to enhance the training facility.
The Video Management Software (VMS) has Advanced Alarm Management, which has the ability to display any alarms associated with the VMS. The VMS supports Multicast and Unicast environments, as well as Multistream capability. The Video Management Software (VMS) is licensable per total number of camera connections, not by MAC address of camera

LED lighting system
Incorporates six brilliant amber, blue, red, and white LEDs with a clear optic hard coated polycarbonate lens and utilize a specialized reflector for maximum output. The hard coated lenses provide extended life protection against UV and chemical stresses. The conformal coated PC board and sealed lens/reflector assembly provides additional protection against environmental elements.
